My vision for Rise is to help revolutionise how women approach and experience life during their perimenopausal and menopausal years. I want to be a trusted partner that helps women take exceptional care of their body, mind and soul. I truly believe that women should be empowered to feel their very best regardless of their age.
Meet Jo....
Hello! I'm Jo. I've had a love of fitness and wellbeing for over twenty years, but it's been a fairly long and winding journey to finally get here.
I spent the first part of my adult life in a fast-paced and intense corporate career that left me dissatisfied, stressed and unfulfilled. After the birth of my son, I knew I needed a dramatic change, which led me back to education. During this time, I obtained two Masters degrees in psychology, while also working as a freelance strategic consultant for women's health charities. Throughout both my studies and my freelance work, I heard from many perimenopausal and menopausal women who were finding themselves at a critical juncture in their lives, without the confidence to navigate these changes in a way that prioritised their health and wellbeing. These stories deeply resonated with me, having experienced many women’s health issues myself over the years, some of which were serious enough to result in significant upheaval and distress. I knew exactly how it felt to be cast adrift in a hormonal maelstrom, needing a trusted hand to help me reframe, rebalance and reprioritise but simply not knowing where to turn.
As I learned more about the hormonal changes women experience during and after their 40s, I realised that lifestyle changes can have a profound impact on our health and wellbeing. Sadly, many trainers and coaches do not take into account the specific needs of over-40s women, so I set about gaining a variety of personal trainer and nutritional qualifications to add to my psychology experience. I was then ready to establish Rise!
