I am a self-confessed liftaholic and I love sharing the art of lifting with other women. Lifting helps us become strong, stable and resilient - both physically and mentally! As we move into our perimenopause and menopause years, lifting also helps to counteract the effects of diminishing estrogen that leads to reductions in lean muscle mass and bone density. It is for these reasons that I think strength training through weight-lifting is a vital life skill for all women!
The Lift for Life workshops have proven to be a huge hit and appeal to women who want to get into strength training without having to commit to a regular personal trainer.
During a Lift for Life workshop, I will take you through the reasons lifting is so important for women over 40 and how women over 40 should be lifting to get the most benefits based on the hormonal realities of the perimenopause and menopause years. I'll then show you six key lifts using dumbbells and explain how to progress your lifts over time using heavier weights and even onto barbell lifting! You will have a chance to practice each lift and will be given personalised and real-time advice to help you lift safely and effectively. The workshop ends with a quick discussion on how nutritional choices can support your strength training goals and your hormonal balance.
